What is the difference in steady growth and steady percentage growth?
Q. I'm trying to figure out how to explain the difference in steady growth and steady percentage growth. I'm in Calculus and we are discussing the percentage growth rates of exponential functions and stuff like that.

A. If something grows by the same amount over each successive time period, then it grows at a steady rate. The number of tree rings in the trunk of a tree grows at a steady rate, one ring per year. If you add a dollar to your cookie jar every day, the amount of money in the jar grows at a steady rate, one dollar per day. If something grows by an amount proportional to its current size over each successive time period, then it grows at a steady percentage rate. If each female rabbit in a population has two daughters every year, then the female rabbit population grows at a steady percentage rate, 200% per year. If you deposit a dollar into a bank account bearing 5% annual percentage rate interest, compounded monthly, then the amount of… [cont.]

How large will cats grow when given growth hormones?
Q. I have bought some bacteria and some restriction enzymes and the DNA sequence of the cat growth hormone. I plan to splice the DNA into the plasmids of the bacteria to make them start synthesizing the protein. I do not plan to actually put the growth hormone into any cats yet without extensive research and planning. I know that to much growth hormones can lead to the desegregation of joints and other bad effects but i was wondering if the cats can be some how prepared for the extensive extra growth.
Asked by Bob - Fri Jun 4 09:58:16 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Without splicing in new genes, maybe 20% bigger than its siblings. Even if you made a 5kg cat a muscular 8kg, still longway from leopold size. Its offspring though would still be normal size as its genetic blueprint was not changed. True the growth hormones could make it sex mad but infertile.

How can a human increase their Growth hormone secretion easily?
Q. We all know excercise stimulates growth hormone besides sleep but what physical activity and for how long. My growth plates are still open and my doctor said I can maximize my growth potential in my genes. Please answer if only you have knowledge on the subject.

A. Growth hormone is also secreted in your sleep, so be sure to always get a good night's sleep, and try not to disrupt your sleep-wake cycle too often.

How do I preserve a childhood growth chart?
Q. The growth chart has been tracked for twenty years and we're finally repainting the wall. But my mother doesn't want to lose the pen marks of the growth chart that's on the wall. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to preserve the growth chart? We could draw a line around it and just paint around it but we're looking for something more creative! Any suggestions are welcome!
Asked by littlebaker - Sat Jun 21 01:49:49 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would make a copy of it. Perhaps use tracing paper, matching the ink colour if possible. Another option would be to use some sort of clear plastic, or even plexiglass. You would then frame the copy somehow, and your mum could put it on her wall as a remembrance. You know what would be REALLY nice? Find small photos of the children at whatever ages they were on the chart, and stick them to the copy you made. Then she can see how you grew up, both in stature and in looks.

A. Seriously not a good idea to use Steredrol, not unless you REALLY know what your doing. I would advise you try Xtreme NO. I had really good results with it when my personal trainer put me on a four week trial of it. My size and strength both shot up! check the link below for the before and after pics.

How does population growth affect the limitation of natural resources?
Q. I have that question and a couple more: How does population growth correspond with disease and poverty? What has the United Nations done to promote a reduction in population in the past five years?
Asked by help? - Mon May 18 21:07:55 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well population growth affects the limitation of natural resources because people need to use those resources and as more people are around more people are using those resources so eventually they will run out, like oil. Population growth corresponds with disease and poverty because when they're more people disease spreads from person to person faster because you are closer to people, it corresponds with poverty because a percentage of the population will always be living in poverty and when they're more people, more people will be living in poverty, if you mean growth of poverty it is because it is easier to monopolize the country and make lots of money that other people don't have. I'm not sure about the answer to your last question… [cont.]

A. Prenatal vitamins DO NOT help your hair grow faster. The only reason why preggo ladies hair grows super-fast has to do with their hormones, not the vitamin itself. Sad to tell you, won't be any less. Same time. There's really no way of accelerating your hair growth... Even though many products out there do claim to help your hair grow faster they just "Promote Regular hair growth" There are many things you might be doing that might slow down your regular hair growth (Such as a poor diet, smoking, stress, lack of sleep, etc.) so that's a good way to start... What happens to the growth hormones in animals?
Q. What happens to the growth hormones in animals? Do they diminish when the animal is culled or are they transfered to into the body when the meat is eaten?
Asked by essex_reject77 - Sat Mar 31 20:29:13 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I cannot say it is fact but have heard that the hormones do not diminish but are passed on to the consumer. They are not easily ingested, nor do they get eliminated but rather remain in the body's liver, kidneys, appendix and pancreas. Unless your body is highly efficient at eliminating toxins you could end up with all sorts of nasty side-effects from consuming too much meat, unless you go the "organic" route. I notice a big difference in my body's ability to digest meat from the supermarkets as opposed to meat off an organic farm.

What does percentile rank tell you about growth measurements in the baby?
Q. I am just curious because my baby's femur has always shown to be a week behind the rest of his body in growth. I am 21 wks and the dr. said his femur length is in the 15th percentile of growth. A. 15th percentile means that 15% of babies at that gestational age have femurs that are smaller than your baby's femur and 85% of babies at that gestational age have bigger femurs than your baby's.

How many growth hormones are actually in milk?
Q. I know it is a big sell for organic milk to say there are no growth hormones or antibiotics. But how many of these growth hormones actually make it into regular milk? Is it actually enough to be concerned enough about to spend the extra couple dollars on organic milk?
Asked by mountain_laurel1183 - Sun Sep 17 11:26:26 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I have worked on three different dairy farms since I was 17. I have seen all ways of doing things and all kinds of feeding and vaccination programs. I would be more concerned with what that organic milk is carrying rather then what is in regular milk. Regular milk is perfectly safe after it has been pasturized. With organic milk those animals are recieving nothing to protect them from disease and a cow can carry alot of diseases without showing any signs of them. Growth hormones should not be a concern either. Most of the hype from that is a ploy from the organic industry to sell their milk. If you have ever seen organicly raised animal verses a normal dairy cow often times the organic animals are thin and sickly looking and are unable to… [cont.]

Q. I know it is a big sell for organic milk to say there are no growth hormones or antibiotics. But how many of these growth hormones actually make it into regular milk? Is it actually enough to be concerned enough about to spend the extra couple dollars on organic milk?

A. I have worked on three different dairy farms since I was 17. I have seen all ways of doing things and all kinds of feeding and vaccination programs. I would be more concerned with what that organic milk is carrying rather then what is in regular milk. Regular milk is perfectly safe after it has been pasturized. How can I measure the growth rate of plants?
Q. Thanks =D i have their approximate length in centimetres for everyday, how do i find the growth rate?

A. Their average growth rate would be unrelated to their heights in centimetres everyday. That data would only be useful for a graph or a statistical data view of some kind. The average growth rate can be calculated by finding the current height of the plant and dividing it by the number of hours for which it has been growing. This would give you the number of centimetres per hour. Or you could divide it by the number of days giving you centimetres per day etc. But giving a growth rate for plants as a number is very inaccurate and does not tell you much. Plotting a graph with your data and drawing a curve of growth would be much better! You would put No. Of Days on the X-Axis and Plant Height (cm) on the Y-Axis. If there is more than 1… [cont.]
