A. Well, the birthing videos will do that to you. I also had twins ... your chances of having a vaginal birth is very low. And if they do a C-Section, unless you go into labor very early, it will be a scheduled process. As soon as I went into labor with the twins, I called the doctor, I was asked to come into the hospital, and the surgery was done. The labor part didn't hurt a bit because it starts out very gradually. You'll just feel your belly get rock hard, and with twins, it's not hard to miss. In addition to my twins, I had two other successful pregnancies ... so, to be honest, if you go through the full labor and have a natural delivery, it sucks. You can't even begin to explain what it feels like ... it's a combination of… [cont.]

Labor Day Question. What sort of questions can I ask about labor day to nursing home residents?
Q. I would like to do an activity like the View on TV that would help generate a discussion. The topic is Labor Day since is the holiday.
Asked by Cotton C - Tue Sep 1 19:41:28 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. As Labor Day is all bout a day off of work ,ask them about the jobs they used to have, the people that they worked with, how they got the jobs. Also about what they did on the Holiday itself how they spent it,where they went,,who went with them. Most people in nursing homes are only to happy to chat about their days in the past as they are more comfortable about the past.So you are going to have some great stories !

How long before labor do you start nesting?
Q. I'm 39 weeks and 4 days so I know labor is just around the corner... I just started nesting, how long before labor does that usually happen?
Asked by J.C. - Wed Aug 22 13:10:30 2007 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well, everyone is different and depends on whether this is your first pregnancy or your second pregnancy, etc. However, the average time from the " nesting stage " to labor is about 2-3 weeks. But, this is not an exact figure. The sudden burst of energy is a sign that you'll soon be experiencing signs and symptoms of labor. Congrats.

How soon can labor start after getting off pre-term labor medicine?
Q. I am 38 weeks. I am getting off my pre-term labor medicine tomorrow. My doctor will induce me on Monday. I was wondering how soon after I get off the medicine can I go into labor. Right now I have to take my medicine every 6 hours and when it gets close to taking my medicine I start having cramps...like bad period cramps. Then, when I take the medicine they go away. A. I've had three miscarriages and one baby. Each of the miscarriages was very different so without having gone through your miscarriage, I don't think anyone can make the comparison. Only one of mine was really physically bad and with that one I finished up in the emergency department. People also have very different experiences of labor. For me, the labor pain was definitely much stronger but not so constant. You have breaks in between contractions. The labor pain was more concentrated in my lower back which was bad. But, in labor the level of pain increases more gradually, so your body produces endorphins, the body's own pain relief, to cope with it. The thing is, miscarriage and labor are not purely physical experiences. Your… [cont.]

A. Follow the 5-1-1 rule Contractions have to happen at least every 5 minutes, lasting at least 1 minute and for at least one hour. Anything else is usually Braxton Hicks.

What kind of labor did indentured slaves do?
Q. I'm writing a report (actually it's more of a performance) on how African slaves and indentured servants were important to the southern colonies' economy in the 1600s. Honestly... A. Do you even KNOW what an indentured servant was or how they got the name? The servant signed a contract with a wealthy merchant to serve as a worker for a given length of time in return for having their passage to the new world paid. The contract was written on the top and the bottom and signed by both parties. then an irregular line was drawn across the middle of the page and the line was cut along the indenture. That way, since the servant was probably even more illiterate than an AmeriKan teenager today, they could bring the two parts of the contract together and, if the indenture matched up... then they servant was free to leave or continue on their own. Most indentured servants were illiterate, so they did simple jobs... cleaning, [cont.]

What are your thoughts on the Labor Party leadership change and where do you see them in the future?
Q. The Prime Minister the people of Australia elected, Kevin Rudd, has stepped down as PM and as leader of the Australian Labor party. This has left the top job open for Deputy Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, to be elected unopposed as Australia's 27th Prime Minister. We'd like to know your thoughts on the shift in power and where do you see the Labor Party heading in the future.

A. Australia did not elect Kevin Rudd, they elected the Labor Party. As with the Liberal Party, leadership is decided by the elected members and senators, not by the voters. This seems to be something people just don't understand. When voting, you're voting for your local member, a State/Territory senator, and a party - not the leadership. Personally, I believe anyone who thinks they're voting for a particular leader, rather than the policies of a given party, is pretty stupid. Leaders come and go at the whim of the party, but it's the policies which make the party.

A. The AFL became the AFL-CIO. Yes it is a labor organization and no it wasn't illegal. Before the Wagner Labor Relations Act it simply wasn't protected nor was the right of workers to organize.

What kind of price/Labor hours should I expect for a top end rebuild?
Q. I have 1984 Honda Nighthawk S, CB700, and its approaching 40,000 miles. It blows oil (valve seals) and i can hear the cam shaft chain rattling louder and louder. I want to have a pro mechanic attempt a top end rebuild but wanted to get the heads up as to how many labor hours this would take + plus what kind of cost. I have been qouted at $1500. How does this sound? Thanks for your input.

A. It sounds pretty close. If your mechanically inclined at all you could pull the heads off then take them in this would save a bundle. Also if you cam chain is rattling, most modern bikes have an automatic cam chain adjuster. You may need to do this. Its located on the rear of your cylinders. Get a manual for your bike and look at it to see if your able to perform the job. I would think 1500 is almost as much as an 84 is worth.
